Hay fever is the most common name for pollen allergies. Our immune systems react to the pollen leading to inflammation and various symptoms that many of us know all too well.

Around two in every ten people have this allergy and it is thought that more than 10 million people in Britain suffer with hay fever (metoffice.gov.uk).

Depending on the time of year, the type of pollen in the air will be different. There are around 30 different types of pollen that cause hay fever and it is possible to be allergic to more than one type meaning that symptoms can be prolonged during spring and summer months.

While conventional treatments such as antihistamines and nasal sprays are widely used, an increasing number of people are exploring complementary approaches to support their wellbeing. One such approach is Systematic Kinesiology which can help manage hay fever and its associated symptoms.

How Can Systematic Kinesiology Help?
Systematic Kinesiology is a holistic therapy that uses gentle muscle testing to assess imbalances in the body. Muscles are connected to specific organs, glands, and energy pathways. By testing the strength or weakness of certain muscles, a Kinesiologist can identify areas of stress or imbalance within the body.

1. Identifying Sensitivities
Through muscle testing, practitioners identify specific allergens and/or environmental stressors that are affecting the body. Putting a pot on your windowsill to capture pollen (pollen trap) and bringing it along to an appointment is a great way to target exact triggers.

2. Supporting the Immune System
Identifying natural supplements to support the body in managing symptoms and improving resilience during the allergy season.

3. Stress Reduction
Stress can exacerbate allergic reactions. Kinesiology techniques include methods to help calm and reset the nervous system, which can reduce symptom severity.

4. Balancing the body
Drawing on principles similar to acupuncture, plus lymphatic reflex massage, Kinesiology works with the body’s energy systems to restore balance and reduce symptoms.

What to Expect from a Session
A typical session with a Systematic Kinesiologist involves:

  • A detailed discussion of your health history and symptoms
  • Gentle muscle testing (usually on the arms)
  • Personalised recommendations, which may include dietary changes, supplements and/or relaxation techniques

Sessions are non-invasive and tailored to each individual.

Is It Right for You?
If you’re curious about alternative ways to manage hay fever this season, Systematic Kinesiology offers a gentle, personalised approach that focuses on the body as a whole—not just the symptoms.
