FAQs
Who is Kinesiology for?
Because Kinesiology is non-invasive, it can be suitable for all ages from babies to the elderly, and everyone in between.
Kinesiology is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It also works at keeping the body in balance and working optimally, even if you have no signs or symptoms.
You may be experiencing symptoms or issues which, despite tests and examinations, cannot be explained medically. You may not feel like yourself and a thorough health check provides normal results.
If you physically cannot carry out the muscle tests for any reason then Katharine can discuss the use of a surrogate body for you to be able to complete your muscle testing.
What to expect from your session
Enter Katharine’s home with a warm welcome and a hot cup of herbal tea. Katharine will discuss your initial client questionnaire in more detail with you as part of your initial consultation to fully understand your priorities for your health and well-being.
As you step in to Katharine’s cosy clinic space, you can lay down on the therapy couch and Katharine will direct you. Muscle testing is performed fully clothed. Katharine will talk through any imbalances that are detected and carry out treatment accordingly, keeping you informed throughout. If you cannot lay flat for any reason, let Katharine know before your session and she can set the therapy couch up for your comfort.
Following your treatment, Katharine will provide you with bespoke post treatment advice to enhance and complement your treatment.
How do I cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel your appointment, Katharine kindly asks that you give 48 hours notice so that she can aim to fill the appointment. Please call Katharine to cancel on 07541571949, leaving a message if she is unable to answer. If you cancel within 24 hours, the full treatment cost will be payable.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothes like leggings or sportswear so that movement isn’t restricted. Wear layers and some cosy socks; shoes are removed during your treatment. Sports bras can be more comfortable for the ladies.
Is muscle testing and treatment hands on?
Muscle testing is always hands on along with many of the Kinesiology tests and treatments. However, some testing and elements of treatment can be completed without direct touch. Surrogate testing can also be carried out if direct touch is not possible for a client.
What will I need to do during the treatment?
Once your consultation is complete, you will be invited to lie flat on your back on the therapy couch. Katharine can set up the couch if lying flat is not possible for you; just let her know ahead of your appointment. Katharine will guide you on where to place your limbs during each muscle test. You will need to be able to move yourself between lying on your back and on to your tummy during the session.
Do you have a toilet?
Yes. Please use it as many times as you need and don’t be afraid to go during your treatment. Your comfort is Katharine’s priority.
How many sessions will I need?
The answer to this will depend on what you’re coming to see Katharine for and how long you have had your symptoms. It will also depend on how well you follow the recommendations after treatment too. Whilst it can be usual to feel benefits after 1 session, deeper and longer lasting benefits are typically felt after 3-6 sessions. To give you an idea on frequency, Katharine typically sees clients every 6-8 weeks initially but this can become less frequent with the more sessions you have.
Do you work with other healthcare providers?
Katharine is adept in multiprofessional working and is happy to discuss your health and wellbeing needs with other health care professionals, with your consent.
Are kinesiology sessions covered by insurance?
You will need to contact your healthcare insurance provider to enquire.
